Mother's Day Afternoon Tea in Knightsbridge 2026: Where to Book
Mothering Sunday falls on 15 March this year, which leaves exactly a week to secure a table. Afternoon tea remains the Knightsbridge way to mark it: unhurried, a little theatrical and easy to share across generations. The best rooms book out early, so here are the hotels we would call first, with what each is serving for the weekend.
Egerton House: the townhouse option
For a gentle, private feel, Egerton House on Egerton Terrace is hard to beat. Part of the Red Carnation collection, the hotel is opening its Drawing Room for a Mother's Day tea built around a glass of rosé Champagne, finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones and a proper loose-leaf list that runs from Assam, Darjeeling and Earl Grey to jasmine and peppermint. It is a small room, which is exactly the appeal; book ahead. More on the hotel on our Egerton House venue page.
The Lanesborough: Bridgerton at Hyde Park Corner
If your mother has been following the latest series, The Lanesborough is the obvious call. Its official Bridgerton Afternoon Tea draws on the Regency era and the characters of Bridgerton Season 4, with finger sandwiches, home-baked scones with clotted cream and jam, four signature sweet treats and a Forbidden Love cocktail. It is served in the hotel's Regency-style dining room, and for Mother's Day weekend the hotel is running a dedicated version on 14 and 15 March that includes a glass of Laurent-Perrier. Smart casual dress applies, and there is live piano at weekends.
Two more worth knowing
- The Capital Hotel, Basil Street: a traditional afternoon tea with a complimentary glass of English sparkling wine from Chapel Down, served between 1pm and 5pm on Sunday 15 March only. Its intimate dining rooms suit small family groups.
- The Knightsbridge Lounge at Park Tower Knightsbridge: a Mother's Day tea running from Friday 13 to Monday 16 March, with an offer that lets mothers dine free for parties of two to four. Bookings need to be made at least 24 hours in advance, and the lounge looks straight across to Hyde Park.
How to choose
Each has its own character, so it is worth matching the room to the guest of honour. Pick Egerton House for quiet conversation, The Lanesborough for spectacle and a sense of occasion, The Capital for classic charm on the Sunday itself, and Park Tower if you want flexibility across the long weekend. All four are within a 15-minute walk of one another, so a stroll through the area before or after is easy to plan. If the weather is kind, a turn around Hyde Park is the natural way to walk off the scones before heading home.
Booking tips
Confirm sitting times and any dietary needs when you book, as Mother's Day menus often run to fixed slots, and check prices directly since they can change. Knightsbridge station serves The Capital and Park Tower; Hyde Park Corner station is beside The Lanesborough; Egerton House is closest to South Kensington.
