Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor Terrace Reopens With a New Summer Look
Knightsbridge has never had many places to eat outdoors above street level, which is why the reopening of the Fifth Floor Terrace at Harvey Nichols counts as genuine local news. The terrace is back for summer with what the store calls a refreshed look, and early reports suggest it is rather more than a lick of paint. If you have been waiting for a reason to take lunch upstairs after a morning on Sloane Street, this is it.
What has changed
The terrace now has new decking underfoot, new lighting and a scattering of olive trees, giving it a softer, more Mediterranean feel than before. Hot Dinners' early visit describes the result as a full makeover rather than a light refresh. One practical note from the same visit: the dedicated Fifth Floor lift was out of action at the time, so allow a minute or two for the store's internal lifts or escalators on the way up.
What to order
The summer menu leans light and Italian, which is exactly right for a terrace lunch. Dishes and prices reported so far include:
- Salmon tartare with fennel shavings, prawns and focaccia croutons, £23.
- Burrata and citrus salad with focaccia crisp and confit tomatoes, £17.
- Cornish crab linguine with courgette cream, rocket and a parmesan salsa, £24.
- Tulia's tiramisu, with dark chocolate crumble, coffee syrup and whipped mascarpone, £12.
Specials change, and a strawberry and vanilla millefeuille with lemon verbena has also featured. To drink, the terrace pours Champagne PIAFF in Brut, Rosé and Blanc de Blancs, alongside summery spritzes: the Hugo Spritz is £14 and the Sunset Spritz £13.
A June offer worth knowing
To celebrate the reopening, Harvey Nichols Rewards members receive a complimentary glass of Champagne PIAFF with any main course throughout June. If you shop at the store regularly, it is worth signing up before you book.
And downstairs
If the terrace is full, the store's other recent food arrival is worth knowing. Secret Sandwich Shop opened on the lower ground floor last December, its second site after Notting Hill, with favourites such as the Egg Salad Sando, a monthly special exclusive to Harvey Nichols, a matcha menu and Japanese-leaning cocktails including a yuzu gin fizz.
How it fits into a Knightsbridge day
The terrace works best as a midday stop. Arrive a little before the lunch rush, take a table in the sun and order a spritz while you decide. It is an easy pairing with an afternoon of shopping in the store below, and it is a far calmer alternative to the busy cafés at street level. Getting there and booking
Harvey Nichols is at 109 to 125 Knightsbridge, SW1X 7RJ, directly above Knightsbridge station's Sloane Street exit. Book ahead for sunny weekends, as terrace tables go first, and ask for an outdoor table when you reserve.
