Sale e Pepe
Knightsbridge Italian on Pavilion Road since 1974, serving shareable classics from burrata and cacio e pepe to salt baked sea bass and veal Milanese.
About Sale e Pepe
Sale e Pepe has served classic Italian food on Pavilion Road since 1974, a couple of minutes' walk from Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Sloane Street. It is the kind of Knightsbridge institution that has fed generations of regulars, from residents and shoppers to theatre audiences, with the welcome of a family run trattoria and a menu of modern Italian classics designed for sharing.
Start with burrata and heritage tomatoes, grilled Galician octopus with borlotti beans, or vitello tonnato. Every pasta and risotto comes in starter or main portions: bucatini cacio e pepe, paccheri alla vodka, linguine with lobster, tagliolini with white and brown crab, and a porcini risotto with black truffle. For mains there is a salt baked whole sea bass, grilled Dover sole, a bone-in veal Milanese and a rack of Welsh lamb, with desserts from a daily display and a wine list drawn from Piedmont, Veneto, Tuscany and Sicily.
The room is lively, and the restaurant takes private groups, birthdays and full private hire. It suits family celebrations, a long lunch between shops and diners who like classic Italian cooking without fuss. A three course set lunch is served Monday to Friday from noon to 4pm at £38. Opening hours are noon to 10.30pm Monday to Thursday and to 11pm on Friday and Saturday. Card payments only.
