About The Berkeley Café

The Berkeley Café is the light filled, all day dining room at The Berkeley on Wilton Place, run in partnership with the French pastry chef Cedric Grolet. It sits directly beside Cedric Grolet at The Berkeley, the chef's first patisserie outside France, a gold detailed, almost lab-like shop whose centrepiece is Cedric Grolet's Counter.

The headline is Goutea, a contemporary afternoon tea that brings British classics together with Grolet's pastry. Expect finger sandwiches and warm scones alongside his signature desserts, sculpted to look like fruit and flowers, plus pastries and cookies, with a glass of Billecart-Salmon champagne or a non-alcoholic pairing. It is served in the café or at the Chef's Counter. Mornings start with Grolet's take on breakfast, either a set of signatures or a la carte croissants and daily specials with fresh juice or champagne, and through the day the café serves its signature all day plates and desserts. Menus change with the seasons.

The café is more relaxed than a traditional tea room, which makes it a good choice for an afternoon break from the Knightsbridge boutiques, a birthday treat or a morning meeting near Hyde Park. Booking is recommended for Goutea, and gift vouchers are available through the hotel. If you are running late for a reservation, call the hotel.
