Afternoon Tea in Knightsbridge: Harrods, The Berkeley and More
For afternoon tea in Knightsbridge, you are spoilt for choice within a ten minute walk of the station. The classic is The Georgian at Harrods; the most inventive is Cédric Grolet's Goûtea at The Berkeley; and The Lanesborough and The Rosebery both run seasonal menus that change through the year. Below are six that are serving now, with times and the nearest tube. Menus and prices change with the seasons, so check each venue's own page before booking. As a rule of thumb, choose The Georgian or The Peninsula for tradition, Goûtea for pâtisserie, and The Lanesborough or The Rosebery if you like a themed seasonal menu.
The Georgian at Harrods
The Georgian is on the fourth floor of Harrods and serves afternoon tea through the day, with the last seating at 7pm Monday to Saturday and 6pm on Sundays. The adjoining Terrace offers brunch until 4pm and then a lighter cream tea with cocktails into the early evening. It is the most traditional option on this list and an easy one to combine with shopping, since you can finish in the Food Halls on the way out. Find it at 87-135 Brompton Road, SW1X 7XL. Nearest tube: Knightsbridge. Opening hours for The Georgian.
The Rosebery at Mandarin Oriental
At Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, The Rosebery serves afternoon tea from noon to 7.30pm on distinctive hanging cake stands, with a menu of 29 loose-leaf teas and optional wine, sake, beer or sparkling tea pairings. The current autumn menu draws on Hyde Park's history as a Tudor hunting ground, with orchard fruits, hedgerow berries and warm spices. The room also serves breakfast and all-day dining, and the Mandarin Cake Shop sells cakes and pâtisserie made in house to take away. Address: 66 Knightsbridge, SW1X 7LA. Nearest tube: Knightsbridge.
Goûtea at The Berkeley
Cédric Grolet, The Berkeley's pâtissier in residence, serves Goûtea in The Berkeley Café or at his Chef's Counter. It is more relaxed than a formal tea room: finger sandwiches and warm scones, then signature desserts sculpted to look like fruit and flowers, with Billecart-Salmon champagne or a non-alcoholic pairing. Book ahead, as it is one of the most sought-after teas in London. Address: Wilton Place, SW1X 7RL. Nearest tube: Knightsbridge or Hyde Park Corner.
The Lanesborough
The Lanesborough serves afternoon tea daily in the grand Lanesborough Grill. The current menu is the official Bridgerton Afternoon Tea, inspired by Season 4, with finger sandwiches, scones and four signature sweets, plus a themed cocktail. A festive version runs from 5 November 2026 to 6 January 2027. There is live piano on Saturdays and Sundays, and the dress code is smart casual. Address: Hyde Park Corner, SW1X 7TA. Nearest tube: Hyde Park Corner. Times and menus.
Jumeirah Carlton Tower
Jumeirah Carlton Tower serves A Tribute to Nature, an afternoon tea inspired by the flora of British gardens. The hotel welcomes all ages and asks for smart casual dress, so it works well for a family treat or a celebration with grandparents. The Chinoiserie, the hotel's all-day room, is the alternative for lighter bites. The address is on Cadogan Place, SW1X 9PY, just off Sloane Street. Nearest tube: Knightsbridge or Sloane Square.
The Peninsula London
At The Peninsula London, The Lobby serves the signature Peninsula Afternoon Tea with live music, beneath hand-painted de Gournay murals and crystal chandeliers. It is the grandest setting of the six and a short walk from Hyde Park, so it pairs well with an afternoon at Apsley House across the road. Address: 1 Grosvenor Place, SW1X 7HJ. Nearest tube: Hyde Park Corner.
Good to know
Weekend slots at The Berkeley, The Lanesborough and The Georgian go first, so book at least a week ahead. Most venues can adapt menus for vegetarian, gluten-free or other dietary needs with notice. Smart casual is the usual dress code, and sportswear is best avoided. If you are celebrating, say so when you book; several of these teas can add a message or a candle. Afternoon tea also makes a good gift, and The Lanesborough, The Rosebery and The Berkeley all sell vouchers.
