Leréi Knightsbridge: inside the new women-only wellness club
Knightsbridge already has its grand hotel spas. What it has lacked is a private, women-only club built around wellness rather than a swimming pool and a gym. Leréi, which has now opened in the neighbourhood, sets out to fill that gap. It is a members' club rather than a day spa, membership is capped at 150 women, and, according to Health Club Management, it opened with more than 60 per cent of places already taken.
The idea
Leréi describes itself as blending French elegance with Japanese reverence, and the whole concept is organised around five pillars of wellbeing: renew, restore, replenish, reconnect and revitalise. The interiors are by the Italian design house Visionnaire, and the intention is that the space should feel like a private residence with the facilities of a couture beauty department and spa, rather than a conventional wellness club. Members arrive via a private entrance and lift, or a sculptural staircase. The detail runs deep: treatment beds come from Lemi, and the Japanese head spa equipment from Takara Belmont.
What is inside
- Movement: sculpt classes on red light therapy mats by Bon Charge, the Lagree Fitness Method, aerial yoga and sound baths.
- Recovery: a hydrothermal suite by the Italian company Effe, with a Himalayan salt sauna, an ice fountain and marble LED steam showers.
- Beauty and aesthetics: Korean glass hydrafacials, NAD+ therapies, phototherapy and a Japanese head spa, with rituals finished using Oribe hair and scalp products.
- Longevity: clinical genomic testing through Precision Health Clinics, a venture of Dr Mansoor Mohammed, used as the basis for personalised health and lifestyle recommendations.
There is also a co-working lounge and a bistro service, so the club is designed to be somewhere members spend time rather than simply book a treatment and leave. Hotel and Catering's report adds Brazilian lymphatic massage, enzyme peels, oxygen dome treatments and ceremonial body wraps to the menu, along with educational talks and intimate seminars under the reconnect pillar.
Who it is for, and what it costs
Leréi is unashamedly aimed at the area's wealthiest residents and visitors. The company has said it sees demand from Turkish and Lebanese communities, Gulf families, American and European expatriates and the diplomatic community for culturally aligned, women-only wellness with an emphasis on privacy. Monthly memberships start at £1,000, with tiered levels that can add concierge services and chauffeur transfers. There is also a list of à la carte treatments for members and their guests, with guests paying roughly £100 more per therapy than members.
Getting in
With the membership cap and most places reportedly gone before the doors opened, entry is by application. Founding memberships have been offered by private application, so interested readers should approach the club directly rather than expect to walk in off the street, and ask about guest access if a single treatment is all you are after.
