Surrenne Belgravia at The Emory: A Spring Wellness Reset
Spring is when good intentions return, and in SW1 there is no more complete place to act on them than Surrenne Belgravia. The wellbeing and longevity club sits inside The Emory, Maybourne's all-suite hotel on Old Barrack Yard, a few minutes from both Knightsbridge and Hyde Park Corner. As the evenings lengthen, it is worth knowing what it offers and how hotel guests can make the most of it.
What Surrenne is
Surrenne is run as a private members' club gym and spa spread across four floors of the hotel, and guests of The Emory have complimentary access for the length of their stay. The centrepiece is a 22-metre swimming pool with an underwater sound system, framed by stone columns and curtained cabanas, with day beds alongside. There is a mirrored yoga studio, treatment rooms and a dedicated fitness studio. The club describes its approach as combining traditional rituals with modern wellness science, and it offers a personalised City Circadian Reset programme for travellers trying to correct their body clock.
The Art of Wellbeing stay
For a structured reset, The Emory's Art of Wellbeing package, also called Renew and Restore, bundles the best of Surrenne into a single stay. Each room receives:
- Two 60-minute I Need It All massages, drawing on deep tissue, Thai, Ayurveda, Shiatsu and trigger point techniques to ease muscle tension and support circulation
- Two Tracy Anderson classes, taught by trained practitioners and adjusted to your ability, with options such as the mat-based Intermediate Muscular Design
- A personalised consultation with the spa's therapists
- A mood-boosting breakfast at abc kitchens, Jean-Georges Vongerichten's restaurant in the hotel
- A take-home gift from Surrenne Belgravia
Treatments and classes must be booked at least 48 hours in advance and are subject to availability. Full terms are on the Art of Wellbeing offer page.
Why the Tracy Anderson link matters
The Tracy Anderson Method is a whole-body conditioning programme with a devoted following, and having it delivered in a hotel setting is unusual in London. Add-ons such as Band Cardio, which uses an iso-kinetic resistance system, make it easy to tailor a session. For visitors who keep up a routine at home, it removes the usual excuse for a lost week, and for first-timers it is a gentle introduction with expert eyes on technique.
The building around it
The Emory itself was designed by Richard Rogers and Ivan Harbour of RSHP, with suites by designers including Patricia Urquiola, André Fu and Alexandra Champalimaud. Design Milk's look inside the hotel is a good primer. Spa days and treatments for non-residents work differently from guest access, so ask the hotel directly before you plan around a visit.
