Beauchamp Place Shops and Restaurants: A Knightsbridge Guide
Beauchamp Place shops are mostly independent: designer boutiques, occasionwear specialists and a handful of small restaurants on a short street that runs south from Brompton Road towards Walton Street. It is quieter than Sloane Street, and many visitors pair it with Harrods, a few minutes' walk away. The street has changed a good deal in recent years, so this guide sticks to places we have confirmed are trading now, with addresses and the nearest tube for each. Expect a slower, more personal kind of shopping than on Brompton Road: smaller rooms, owners and long-serving staff on the shop floor, and appointments where it helps.
Caroline Charles
The British designer Caroline Charles keeps her London shop and head office at 27 Beauchamp Place. The label is known for polished womenswear built on British cloth, and the shop carries the current season of dresses, tailored jackets and coats, shirts, skirts and accessories. It is a sensible first stop if you are dressing for a wedding, the races or a smart dinner, and the staff are used to building a complete outfit. Address: 27 Beauchamp Place, SW3 1NJ. Nearest tube: Knightsbridge. Store details.
Lalage Beaumont
Lalage Beaumont at 58 Beauchamp Place is a boutique for handbags, dresses and formal wear, and it works best by appointment for an unhurried visit. Staff can help you choose a bag, dress for an occasion or be fitted for something made to measure, and personal styling is offered too. The shop opens Monday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm and is a good place to find a statement bag, and there is a second branch in Burlington Arcade in Mayfair. Address: 58 Beauchamp Place, SW3. Nearest tube: Knightsbridge.
Patara
Patara is a long-running London group of Thai restaurants, and its Knightsbridge branch is at 9 Beauchamp Place. It is a reliable choice for a sit-down lunch between shops, or for a relaxed dinner that costs less than the hotel dining rooms nearby. The group also runs restaurants in South Kensington, Oxford Circus and Wimbledon. Book by phone or online, particularly at lunchtime on Saturdays when shoppers fill the room. Address: 9 Beauchamp Place, SW3 1NQ. Nearest tube: Knightsbridge or South Kensington.
Maroush
Maroush serves Lebanese food at 38 Beauchamp Place, from a quick wrap to take away to a full meal of hot and cold mezze in the first floor dining room. The menu has plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options, and it keeps famously late hours, open until 3am early in the week and until 4.30am Thursday to Saturday. Private dining is available for parties. Address: 38 Beauchamp Place, SW3 1NU. Nearest tube: Knightsbridge. Menus and hours.
Harrods, a short walk away
Walk back to Brompton Road and Harrods is a few minutes away. The Food Halls are the obvious draw, and the store's restaurants range from The Georgian on the fourth floor to Kinoya Sushi in the Dining Hall, which keeps late hours via Door 8 on Brompton Road after the store closes. Allow longer than you think: the store is enormous. Address: 87-135 Brompton Road, SW1X 7XL. Nearest tube: Knightsbridge.
Alba, opposite Harrods
For a proper meal after shopping, Alba at 70 Brompton Road sits directly opposite the Harrods main entrance. The Italian kitchen under Head Chef Cristian Ianni serves dishes such as crab ravioli and lobster linguine, while Japanese Head Chef Takuya Kaneko runs a ten-seat omakase counter with nine or twelve courses in the evenings, Tuesday to Saturday. Address: 70 Brompton Road, SW3 1ER. Nearest tube: Knightsbridge.
Good to know
Beauchamp Place is about ten minutes on foot from both Knightsbridge and South Kensington stations. Independent shops keep shorter hours than the department stores, and several close on Sundays, so call ahead if you are making a special trip. Combine it with Walton Street and the Brompton Cross area for a full afternoon. If you only have an hour, walk the street end to end first, then go back to the shops that caught your eye; it takes about five minutes from one end to the other.
