Jumeirah Carlton Tower Goes Cosmic for Chelsea in Bloom 2026
Chelsea in Bloom opens tomorrow, Monday 18 May, and runs until Sunday 24 May. Now in its 21st year, the free floral festival produced by Cadogan with the Royal Horticultural Society has chosen the theme Out of This World, with displays inspired by space travel, astrology and spiritual symbolism. Among the 140-plus shops, restaurants and hotels taking part, Jumeirah Carlton Tower on Cadogan Place has committed more fully than most, and it makes an ideal base for the week. Elsewhere on the trail, a floral globe on the King's Road honours Sir David Attenborough, who turned 100 earlier this month.
The floral entrance
The hotel is dressing its entrance with a floral installation for the festival, with the facade display in place from 18 May. Its position on Cadogan Place, just off Sloane Street, puts it a short walk from the festival's big commissioned pieces, including the mythical dragon and Pegasus on Sloane Street, a UFO hovering over Pavilion Road and a zodiac constellation in Sloane Square. Sloane Street's insider guide to Chelsea in Bloom maps the highlights.
Cosmic cocktails and afternoon tea
- Six galactic-named cocktails have been created to match the theme.
- The spring afternoon tea, from £85, includes Kent cucumber tarts, Cornish chicken sandwiches and hibiscus scones.
- The Celestial Strawberry Bloom cake is the showpiece of the tea, created to match the festival's celestial mood.
Afternoon tea during the festival and the Chelsea Flower Show, which runs from 19 to 23 May at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, will be in high demand, so book ahead rather than trying your luck.
The Astrolabe Discovery Stay
For guests who want to stay for the week, the hotel's Astrolabe Discovery Stay builds the festival's stargazing theme into an overnight package. It is a playful way to make the most of a week when the whole neighbourhood is in costume, and it puts guests within walking distance of every installation on the trail. Ask the hotel for the details of what the package includes before you book.
Beyond the flowers
Jumeirah Carlton Tower's year-round strengths make it a good pick for flower show visitors who want to recover between outings. The Peak Fitness Club and Spa has panoramic city views and a naturally lit indoor pool, and guests have private access to Cadogan Gardens, the garden square beside the hotel, which feels particularly apt this week. More on the hotel's facilities is on Jumeirah's own site.
Making the most of the week
- Judging takes place early in the week, with expert winners announced on Tuesday 19 May.
- Public voting for the People's Champion Award closes at midnight on Thursday 21 May, with the winner announced on Friday 22 May.
- Walk the trail early in the morning, before the crowds, when the flowers are at their freshest.
