Knightsbridge Hotel Rooftops and Gardens: Summer 2026 Guide
Knightsbridge's grandest hotels spend most of the year looking inward, towards their lounges, bars and dining rooms. For a few months each summer, the most interesting tables move outdoors and upwards. With the season now at its height and the long evenings still with us, these are the hotel rooftops, terraces and gardens worth booking, including several that welcome people who are not staying the night.
The Berkeley: Capri in the City
The rooftop of The Berkeley on Wilton Place is home this summer to Capri in the City, a collaboration with Acqua di Parma that runs from May until late summer. It opens from 7.30pm, Wednesday to Sunday, and the look is an Italian beach club among lemon trees, with views over Hyde Park and the skyline. The Riviera-inspired menu runs to pizza from a poolside oven, sharing platters, tiramisu and an Amalfi lemon sorbet; to drink, there is a Capri Negroni and a granita della casa made with Aperol and lemon. The pool itself is reserved for hotel guests, but the hotel's rooftop page confirms that non-residents can reserve the Rooftop Bar in spring and summer, subject to availability.
Brooklands at The Peninsula
At Hyde Park Corner, The Peninsula London's Brooklands has a rooftop terrace of just 26 covers, attached to Claude Bosi's two Michelin-starred restaurant and reached by a lift themed on a hot air balloon. The full bar, à la carte and tasting menus are all available outside, and every terrace booking comes with a back-up table indoors, which takes the worry out of booking a summer dinner in London weeks ahead.
The Hari's garden terrace
On Chesham Place in Belgravia, The Hari has an open-air garden terrace with a retractable roof and room for around 20, also bookable for private events. It is a more relaxed proposition: a Blood and Sand from the cocktail list, truffle arancini, pizzas and sandwiches. Luxury London's rooftop guide includes all three of these hotels among the city's best for summer 2026.
Two more for the list
- The Emory Rooftop Bar: on Old Barrack Yard, the top floor of The Emory, the Maybourne hotel of suites and studios next to The Berkeley, has panoramic views and a twelve-cocktail menu called The View. Access is for hotel residents and guests, so book through the hotel.
- The Garden Room at The Lanesborough: a covered outdoor terrace at Hyde Park Corner with a collection of rare cognacs and armagnacs and monthly cigar masterclasses.
A final word on planning. Most of these spaces are small, and several are open only on certain evenings or to particular guests, so check the details directly with each hotel before you set out and make it clear when booking that you want to sit outside. Have a plan for rain, too: three of the five have a roof, cover or a guaranteed table indoors. Knightsbridge and Hyde Park Corner stations on the Piccadilly line are both within a short walk of all five.
