Phil Khoury's Chocolate Pop-Up at Harrods and The Macallan Boutique
Harrods' summer has a homecoming in it. Phil Khoury, who ran the store's pastry operation for six years before stepping down around eighteen months ago, is returning to Brompton Road with a chocolate pop-up that opens on Wednesday 15 July. Elsewhere in the store, whisky collectors already have a new destination in The Macallan's boutique. Together they make a strong case for a Harrods visit that has nothing to do with fashion, and everything to do with flavour.
The City bars, in person
Since leaving Harrods, Khoury has built a following for his chocolate bars, which are known for selling out quickly online, so the chance to buy them in person, and to see the full range in one place, is the real news here. The pop-up, in the Chocolate Hall of the Harrods Food Hall, offers a special Harrods edit from his City series, each bar named after a place and built around its flavours:
- Beirut: orange blossom caramel with a cashew baklava crunch
- London: Earl Grey and biscuits
- New York: apple pie
- Paris: crunchy hazelnut praline and caramel
- Doha: cardamom coffee and dates
- Oaxaca: corn, cinnamon and cacao
Alongside the bars are chocolate-coated nuts with a clever twist: each nut is covered in a chocolate made from that same nut, so pistachios come in pistachio chocolate. Everything is sold from a red post box stand in the food hall, which should make it easy to spot. The pop-up is expected to run through the summer, for at least a few months, according to Hot Dinners' report. Prices had not been published at the time of writing, so treat the first visit as reconnaissance.
The Macallan's first UK store boutique
The other new arrival is The Macallan, which has taken over the space that was previously home to the Harrods Baccarat Bar. It is the Speyside distillery's first domestic boutique in the UK, following its shop at Heathrow Terminal 5, which opened in 2025. The draw for serious collectors is depth: the brand describes it as one of the largest collections of The Macallan outside its own estate, including rare and limited editions, and visitors can sample as well as buy. The design draws on the brand's Nurtured by Nature concept and on the estate itself, as The Whiskey Wash reported when the plans were first announced in March.
Making a morning of it
The two are a natural pairing for a gift run: a bar or two of the Beirut or Doha for someone with a sweet tooth, and a guided tasting for the whisky drinker. Go on a weekday morning if you can, start in the food halls while they are quieter, and then make your way through Harrods to the whisky. Both are the kind of purchase that benefits from a conversation with the staff behind the counter, which is easier before the lunchtime rush. Knightsbridge station's Harrods exit brings you out a few steps from the Brompton Road doors, and the store's own website lists current opening hours.
