Zimmermann Opens on Sloane Street: Inside the New Boutique

A light-filled fashion boutique interior with terrazzo flooring

Sloane Street has a new spring wardrobe. Zimmermann, the Australian label founded in Sydney in 1991 by sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann, has opened a boutique on a prominent corner at 162B Sloane Street. It is the brand's second standalone store in London after Mayfair, and it arrives just as the Spring/Summer 2026 collection lands on the rails.

A corner site, used well

The store covers more than 3,000 square feet over two floors and was designed by Studio McQualter, the brand's long-standing collaborators. The corner position and generous windows shaped the scheme, so the ground floor feels bright even on a grey March afternoon. Warm-toned plaster ceilings sit above custom terrazzo floors, transparent wardrobes keep the clothes visible, and an owl sculpture by Australian artist Peter Cooley greets you at the door.

Accessories have their own space. A dedicated handbag room has cream walls and a Franco Albini sconce, and the street's own Sloane Street announcement also points to a Murano glass pendant hanging over checkerboard tiles and Eero Saarinen Tulip armchairs.

The appointment suite downstairs

The real draw for regular clients is below ground. A curved terrazzo staircase leads to a private appointment suite with oak-panelled walls, timber parquet floors and a Saratoga sofa. The boutique offers private client appointments, including a reserved fitting room and styling sessions for individuals or small groups, which makes it a practical choice for occasion dressing as the wedding and garden party season approaches.

What is on the rails

Spring/Summer 2026 takes its cue from the artists of Lavender Bay in Sydney, and the collection runs from lace dresses to fluid tailoring and prints, all hallmarks of the house. The Summer Swim collection is also in store already, a useful head start for anyone planning an Easter escape.

Why it matters for the street

Zimmermann's arrival is part of a busy expansion. According to FashionUnited, the label was acquired by Advent International in 2023 in a deal that valued it at $1 billion, and recent openings include Abu Dhabi, Ibiza, Nice, Venice and Mykonos. Nicky Zimmermann remains creative director, and the business reported 645.7 million Australian dollars in sales for 2025. In Britain it also has an outlet at Bicester Village, but Sloane Street is now its second full-price London address. Choosing Sloane Street over a second Mayfair site says plenty about where international labels see their clients, and it adds a softer, more romantic note to a street dominated by the big European houses.

Planning a visit

  • The boutique sits at the southern, Chelsea end of Sloane Street, an easy walk from Sloane Square station.
  • Book a private appointment in advance if you want the downstairs suite, especially on Saturdays.
  • Combine it with lunch nearby and a stroll back up towards Knightsbridge, browsing the flagships as you go.
